8 is....Awesome!

Our Preston turned 8.  It seems a little weird to think of having an 8 year old.  I mean, these last 8 years went by really (and I mean REALLY) fast so what does that say about the next 8 years?  Is that going to go by just as fast?  Maybe faster?!?!  I don't think my mind can wrap around having a 16 year old.  Didn't I just turn 26ish?  ;)

Here are some pictures of Preston's party that we threw together really fast with a  couple friends.

The Ben 10 cake.  Erik decorated this cake even though he was recovering from gall bladder surgery 2 days before.  He thinks it's a bit rough but the kids and I think it's great.

About to open presents.  Like my wrapping job?  Yep, it's a Wal-Mart bag.

We even had a piñata.  The kids had a blast with it but darn it all that thing was a mess!  It was shedding blue junk all over the place.  Oh well.  It was worth it.

Happy Birthday Preston!  You are such a sweet, kind, caring, video game loving, bike riding, swimming, Scouts going, helpful, ready to baptized young man/my little boy!  We are so proud of the person you are and the one you will become!  We love you!

Glasses

Our sweet little girl went cross-eyed.  So now she has joined the elite and prestigious group of super awesome people who wear super awesome glasses in our family.

Here's the before:

Notice the left crossed-eye?  Yup.

And after:

These pictures aren't edited and being outside make the transitions lenses activate but that doesn't take away from all the cuteness going on in these pictures.  Love this beautiful girl!

Now That's Real Love

I LOVE popcorn.  Really.  Erik does not understand this love but he accepts it.  Even when he complains how popcorn gets in your teeth and really doesn't taste that good.  He accepts it.

I make popcorn at least 3 times a week and as I went to make a new batch one day, a vital piece of my popcorn popper broke!  I was horrified and crushed!  Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration but I was really sad.

I went straight to Amazon and was so close to buying a new popper but then I thought of Erik.  He is a very creative, handy, ingenious man who can fix almost anything.  And if he doesn't know how to fix it he'll figure it out.  So I went to him, showed him the problem.  He was probably grateful some prayer of his was answered but he saw that I really wanted my popper to work.  He got up and went the garage and came back with an armful of tools.

He worked and worked on my poor little popper.

After all was said and done he brought it back to life!

Yup, Erik loves me.
